Atalanta played very well today in terms of how they responded to our errors and their timely passes to players to score goals. The 2nd and 3rd goal they scored were because the assister passed at the right time, when the scorer was onside. In comparison, When Robbo passed to Salah, he was just a tad offside. Thats the difference.

I'll be honest, if the second leg was Anfield and we were 3-0 down, I'd be way more confident but it's difficult to have much hope now because it's their home ground

We beat Atalanta 0-5 away in 2020. So there's still hope. Bielsa played a similar man-marking system with Leeds, and it was problematic for us (and the rest of the English league) until his players ran out of gas and other teams worked out how to bypass it. Full pitch man-marking is not that common as a tactic, so I think the lads were genuinely surprised by it. It's one thing to look at it on a screen or tactics board, and another thing entirely to actually play against it. Atalanta are 6th, and comfortable in Serie A. This is their big shot and full credit to them, they executed brilliantly. I think we were surprised by their speed, rocked by the error from Kelleher, and then let bad thoughts creep in (Man U games. Title chase. Club v Fan issues etc.) which meant we ended up losing our heads. The thing I'm hopeful about is, as said above, we beat them heavily at their place before, and the man-marking system (as most obviously shown by Bielsa's Leeds) can lead to VERY heavy defeats as well as good victories. It's a tightrope system, and if Liverpool can step properly next week (and f**king finish chances!) they could still go through. It is a folorn hope though. Well done Atalanta and Gasparini. Reds need to pick themselves up quick, because Palace will smell blood after this.

Take city and real , they constantly keep their team fresh by adding new players so that keeps their game level at top always, we are just continuing with same players. We have been poor all season. This season The problem are Nunez, Diaz, gravenbench, gapko, Thiago and jota. The entire Attack rely on Salah, that's the problem. Jota Is to injury prone, he plays 1 game and 10 no, same Thiago. Nunez and Luis Diaz can't score. One Is a blind dribbler and the other a blind runner. Gapko out of the system (klopp ruined him changing position every game). Gravenbench not good enough to start. Good performance from Atalanta, they made us to play on their command/style. We were stretched towards Tsimikas at which we got pulled to the left leaving the void on the right, having also played with lone DM in Endo and he was unable to track back as Gomez also kept wanting to overlap exposing Konate. Toughest 2nd leg to be played, we actually need 4 without Atalanta scoring... we gave them 🖐🏿in 2020, why not in 2024🤔 YNWA ❤ I believe!!

I’m disappointed in the game as well. But we need to be realistic in football. We cannot win every game. We cannot always have a good performance. Nobody can win forever. It happens. And Atalanta is a good team as well.

Win or lose, we are still 100% supporting Liverpool. But the funny thing is to see some Liverpool fans leave Anfield before the match ended.
