Harry was incredible when Liverpool bought him from Leeds. He was one of the best attackers in BPL. Liverpool were not wrong to sign him over CR based on track record in 2003. Likes of Milan, Barc wanted Kewell at the time. Sadly injuries just didn't allow it to happen at Liverpool, really sad. In fact, CR was offered to Liverpool while he was 16 yr old at Sporting, but Houllier passed on him.

And that's it for Michael Owen. Imagine what he could have done without the fitness problems and with a proper team around him and proper manager. Imagine if he had Klopp.

He's ballon d'or winner under Houllier. He'll break Messi and Ronaldo dominant if he's under Klopp. Maybe a couple of Ballon d'or?

I was ECSTATIC when Harry Kewell came that season, and he was just LIT the first year. I just wished he had come 3 years earlier and he had more luck with the injuries. Such a shame. An AMAZING talent. Brilliant goals here.

Heskey was such an unselfish team player, he gets a lot of underserved stick. His hold up work was outstanding.

Heskey shows how good he was as a support striker for Owen. Some great assists and a few goals for himself!

The football Liverpool played in the early 2000s was so entertaining even though the team weren’t winning league titles.

After that season Harry Kewell and Michael Owen were never the same again.

Owen was great for Madrid. Even outscored R9 and Raul off the bench. It was Newcastle where he fell off.

I became Liverpool fan this year I was only six at the time. But loved history of Liverpool and went to many games that year. Liverpool’s fan were great even if we weren’t challenging for trophies.

Owen made scoring looks easy.

He did well in this season and, to a lesser extent, in 2006. Unfortunately due to injuries he couldn't perform well regularly for us. Had some great moments though, particularly in his first season.

That was Pongolle, his cousin. Le Tallec is the white lad with shaved head... "the new Zidane..." (as also Bruno Cheyrou was meant to be) was a shame that both of them didn't kick on, and cont the form they had for the French youth teams.

Gerrard got really serious when he got the armband compared to when he was just a talent in the side and forgot how good Kewell was when he joined. Loved Hamann's whoppers from outside.

Baros, Diouf, Le Tallec, Biscan, Smicer, Pongelle, Cheyrou, the list of absolute dross is almost endless. Class players like Gerrard and Owen, surrounded by mediocrity. Hyypia, Hamman, Carra, Finnan, Riise, Murphy and Heskey were all decent players to be fair. And what a player Kewell was before he was ruined by injuries

The core of most Lfc teams during the Premier League Era have been so good, as you say, summer signings have been poor managed, and losing key players to build on, so disappointing, as they should of challenged for titles on a more frequent basis. Even competing against those Great Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea teams they should of been much closer

We finished 4th qualified for the Champions League and then only went on and won the thing

Houlliers last season. We were no closer to winning the league. He had to go.

He didn't score in the league at all (only scored 3 the first season anyway). It was a shambolic season. Spitting incident and all.

That over recorded commentary is migraine inducing

Heskey was good. Shame that he is only remembered because of ksi.

A REALLY scrappy and choppy season ... We never won more than 3 league games in a row at any time, and a bad defeat or disappointing draw was always around the corner. We'd lost the ruthless streak we had during the treble season, and Houllier just constantly made weird purchases in the transfer market for players who didn't really improve us at all ... Consistent players such as Fowler, Berger and Gary Mac were gone, Diouf was STILL being played ... Heskey had lost his magic touch, and we relied on Owen far too much. It was time for a change ... and something BIG was coming ....

Heskey was pushed out to the left wing in a 4-4-2, it wasn`t his fault. I felt bad for him that season, he was a striker(a good one too) not a left sided midfielder. But yeah, such a poor season overall, only 55 goals! Thing that stood out for me that season, Houllier talking about fans wanting the traditional style of Liverpool football, "that`s fine, but not with me", he was gone soon after, thankfully.
