​@@kl3579To be fair he was class in the 2000-01 season, but so was most of the first team squad. Heskey got 22 in all comps that season, which was over a third of what he got in his whole 4 and a half years at the club.

Your brother is 100% correct, it was Heskey who was owen biggest help in winning Ballon D'or owen wouldn't have won it without Heskey, him and owen where amazing

I'm 43 now and 19 when he signed and he looked Awesome in our kit. Knew he'd never be prolific and he had some dry spells but on his day he was unplayable just not prolific enough but did so much for the team.

Heskey and Owen left in the same summer of 04.... was gutted, but then we brought Cisse, Alonso, and Luis Garcia in Benitez's first season and won the UCL ❤

So much to say about Heskey was the face of Houllier new vision of Liverpool after coming with a lot of hype from Leicester which produced success, helped enabled Michael Owen to be the force of nature for club and country. A proper team player which came at times a sacrifice to his own game. Favourite Heskey moment that Roma game and that header.

One of my all time favourite LFC players, and just seems a properly nice lad

That Liverpool side of 2000/2001 doesn't get anywhere near the amount of praise it deserves! 63 games that season! We played every single game in every tournament and won UEFA cup, FA cup, and the League cup..., and finished top 3 in the premier League, (that was when we only had 3 teams who could qualify for champions league) it's an astonishing achievement, that season is one of the best memories of my lifetime...thank you Emile and Gerard Houllier...all the boys ...it will be treasured forever

He was superb in that treble season for us. Great memories.

Nearly everyone he’s partnered over the years picks him as their favourite strike partner. He was an excellent target man, his hold up play was so good. Perfect for Michael Owen’s game.

If you loved Heskey as much as Owen and Fowler growing up, you were a real football person. What a selfless player and what a person.

Loved Emile at LFC immensely. Great times and thanks for the memories.

I fell in love with LFC when Houllier took over and I have fond memories of all these players during his tenure. We really needed Heskey, we really only had Owen and Fowler up top and they were having injury problems at that time.

Although he didn't score many goals..... his contribution at Anfield and Leicester were top notch.

I remember watching him score a hat trick against Derby. A really eye opening interview about the challenges of moving to another club and a bit of blast from the past as well...

2000/01 season still gets me. Yes weve won 2 CL and the PL since and 2018-2020 were mega seasons but 00/01 is still special for me. Christmas 2000 i had 2 bets with 2 mates that LFC would win 3 cups we in,this despite us not even starting the fa cup yet. Won 60 quid that may. 😂 Awesome days. They were man utd and Arsenal fans too and the day we did the gunners in the cup my mate was distraught. 😂

Really admired heskey as a kid, as a young kid growing up in leics seeing a local lad play for city in the prem and then go and do it at Liverpool was amazing, heskey was the first player I idolised even before making the decision to follow my dad in being a red

Always seemed like a confidence thing with Heskey. That one season with us that he was unreal, always seemed to score every time he had the ball.

One of the best to wear the shirt, certainly one of my favourite players growing up. 60 goals and six titles during his time. He’s done a lot for the women’s game since retiring at Leicester City, would love to see him do the same at Melwood some day. YNWA

Jeez I remember when he Heskey was a wonder kid at Leicester in the 90s.

Hesky was always a nice guy, nice to see he's still around the club. You have to be a gentleman of a certain age to remember the golden Gerrard Houllier days ,liverpool wasn't consider a top 3 team before these days and I still say the LFC rebuild we see today, started from the Houlier success. Same that ill health too Houlier away from us. Was this team as good as we have now, may be not, but football was a different game in, and with this Houliers team, they give a game, and you never rule them out.

Great player and from what I have seen through out the years, a great person! BUT..... I really think that in today´s football he would be a terrific CENTRE BACK!!!! He hardly lost in the air, he had great speed and was a great passer both short and long!! I don´t know if the younger generation remembers his passing but it was really good.
